V Human Rights Parallel Forum Addresses Newly Created Human Rights Council And Denounces Systematic Violations of Human Rights By Rogue Regimes
Geneva (ots/PRNewswire)
Various non-governmental organizations, human rights activists and victims of abuses will hold a Press Conference on Thursday, April 6 at 7:00 PM at The President Wilson Hotel, following the conclusion of the V Human Rights Parallel Forum, sponsored by Mothers & Women Against Repression (M.A.R.)
In contrast to the silence within the halls of what has until now been the headquarters of the U.N. Human Rights Commission, voices will be raised outside the "Palais des Nations" calling attention to the dismal human rights' record of regimes such as the ones that rule Cuba, China, Sudan and Zimbabwe, to name a few, where in spite of brutal repression and systematic violations of fundamental freedoms, are actively lobbying the U.N. General Assembly for votes to obtain a seat in the newly created Human Rights Council.
DATE: Thursday, April 6, 2006 PLACE: President Wilson Hotel 47 Quai Wilson Geneva, Switzerland TIME: 7 P.M.
Activists and victims of human rights' abuses from various countries will offer their testimonies at the event.
Media representatives are invited to the Reception at the end of the Press Conference.
