cooperations
ItN Nanovation AG (ISIN DE000A0JL461) and RWE Power AG, a subsidiary of RWE AG, have concluded an extensive cooperation agreement that sets the prerequisites that will permit an accelerated introduction of the Nanocomp Powerplant (PP) product line of ItN Nanovation in power plants.
The initial focus of the agreement is the lignite power plants of RWE. According to the agreement, product testing and further product development in the power plants will now be jointly intensified and coordinated by the partners. A shortened product adaptation process will result which can also be subsequently used for the deployment of Nanocomp PP in other contexts. The agreement, the first phase of which runs until 2012, was preceded by successful product tests at RWE. The Nanocomp Powerplant high-performance ceramic coating effectively protects technical components in power plants in many regions against contamination, wear and tear due to oxidation or abrasion. The use of Nanocomp PP reduces maintenance costs and increases the productivity of the systems. According to ItN Nanovation estimates, the market for protective coatings in fossil fuel-driven power plants worldwide amounts to more than EUR 1 billion.
Dr. Tillmann C. Lauk, Chief Executive Officer at ItN Nanovation AG, states "We are very pleased about the cooperation; this cooperation agreement underscores the most significant customer benefits that the products of ItN Nanovation AG can generate. For us, the agreement is clear proof that high expectations are seen for the successful deployment of high-performance coatings - expectations for which we want to do justice. It is our declared goal to expand the applicability of Nanocomp PP to as many areas as possible in order to permit a comprehensive implementation in fossil fuel-fired systems".
Based on the many positive tests run previously, RWE Power is placing high expectations on the new Nanocomp Powerplant product line. With successful further development and introduction of new technology in the existing power plant parks of RWE Power, the company will achieve a significant reduction of contaminant-related malfunctions of the systems. Not only will the previous high availability of the blocks be further improved, but first and foremost, necessary maintenance costs can be sustainably reduced. The efficiency of future power creation from fossil fuels can therefore be further increased.
