Schrobenhausen, November 21, 2006 -The construction and machinery manufacturing group BAUER Aktiengesellschaft, which since July 4, 2006 has been listed in official trading (Prime Standard) on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, has maintained its strong earnings growth in the first nine months of 2006.
In the reporting period Bauer increased total Group revenues by some 19 percent year-on-year to EUR 730 million (previous year: EUR 610 million). As a result, the Group now generates 72 percent of total revenues outside of Germany. Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) increased even more strongly, by some 47 percent, to more than EUR 42 million (previous year: EUR 28 million). Consolidated profit was increased substantially, by around 76 percent, to EUR 16.9 million (previous year: EUR 9.6 million).
The Group's orders in hand at the end of September 2006 totalled EUR 422 million, over 27 percent up on the comparative previous year figure of around EUR 332 million.
"We are extremely pleased with the very healthy progress our business has made in the first nine months of 2006. A positive factor is that the upward trend has been maintained by almost entirely organic means, with no mergers or acquisitions. The strong share price performance since our listing in July of this year demonstrates that our shareholders have great faith in the ongoing development of the company", states Chairman of the Management Board Professor Thomas Bauer.
The Construction segment generated total revenues of around EUR 406 million (previous year: EUR 377 million) before consolidations in the first nine months of 2006, an increase of some 8 percent. The main drivers of growth were the international subsidiaries, especially those in North America. By contrast, business in Germany and the EBIT of the Construction segment were slightly down on the previous year's levels.
In its Equipment segment, Bauer generated total revenues of around EUR 338 million (previous year: 244 million) in the first nine months. EBIT was increased significantly, to just under EUR 34 million (previous year: around EUR 17 million). In order to keep responding to the increased demand for its construction equipment, the Group began projects to extend its main plant in Schrobenhausen and a number of its other production facilities in Germany and abroad during the reporting period.
Outlook The global economy - and consequently the worldwide market for construction and machinery - will maintain its upward trend over the remaining financial year. Ever-increasing infrastructure projects and building works, in ever-tighter city centre locations, are necessitating ever more complex specialist foundation engineering solutions, and this is opening up exciting new prospects for the BAUER Group. The healthy level of orders in hand at September 30 is an outstanding basis for sustaining the positive development of the Group's business. Against that background, and in view of the pleasing progress of the business to date, Bauer expects to see total Group revenues increase by around 15 percent and profit rise by around 40 percent in the full year 2006.
