French Auction Market Authority Publishes 2005 Annual Report

More than 200 pre-eminent members of the French Government, art dealers and collectors gathered at the Musee de l'Orangerie in the Jardin des Tuileries when Christian Giacomotto, Chairman of the French auction market Authority (Conseil des Ventes Volontaires de Meubles aux encheres publiques) Presented the 4th annual report of the Conseil's activities.
Giacomotto who was elected Chairman in August 2005 indicated that 2005 was a year of transition. He explained how he felt France could regain a major role in the fine art auction market due to its history and the richness of its cultural heritage. According to French law the annual report had been presented a few days before the meeting to the French Ministers of Justice, Finance and Culture.
