Büdelsdorf, 20 February 2013 - freenet AG systematically continues its strategic
portfolio optimisation with the acquisition of a 51-percent stake in MOTION TM
Vertriebs GmbH.
mobilcom-debitel GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of freenet AG, today signed a
purchase and transfer agreement regarding the acquisition of 51 percent of
shares in MOTION TM Vertriebs GmbH, Troisdorf. The transaction is expected to
close within the 1st quarter of 2013, following the usual merger review process
by Germany's Federal Cartel Office. The purchase price was not disclosed. The
acquisition strengthens freenet AG's sales clout, especially in the online
segment. In addition, MOTION TM provides the systems expertise required to
support specialist retailers with its 'moon' sales platform.
MOTION TM is a leading online retailer in the mobile communications and telecoms
industry. The online service provider works closely with all network operators
and mobile communications service providers to develop tailored solutions for
its sales partners, including delivery logistics right through to the end
customer. It has closely collaborated with mobilcom-debitel GmbH since 2005. The
shareholding will lead to a sustained expansion of the companies' joint business
activities.
