CompuGROUP supports the largest merger in the
history of statutory health
insurance funds.

In 1992, there were still more than 1,200 statutory health insurance funds in Germany. Developments in recent years reduced that figure to 203 as of January 2009. Experts predict that much less than 100 health insurers will still be operating three to four years from now. One example of this trend is a series of mergers like the one involving IKK-Direkt and the Techniker Krankenkasse (TK). 800,000 members of IKK-Direkt were consolidated with the 6.3 million members of the Techniker Krankenkasse in the largest merger involving health insurers from different branches in the history of statutory health insurance funds.
Having successfully supported the integration of the Gärtnerkrankenkasse into the Techniker Krankenkasse, CompuGROUP, an e-health specialist based in Koblenz, proceeded to migrate member data from the ISKV system used by IKK- Direct to a data format suitable for transfer into the application system "TK easy" of the Techniker Krankenkasse. The final steps in this extensive project were completed in January 2009. Also involved along with the Techniker Krankenkasse and CompuGROUP was the project partner Comline AG. The automatic data transfer rate of 97% is regarded as very high.
"We are pleased to note that two competing insurers were able to cooperate flexibly and smoothly in the interest of their policyholders. Thanks to the punctual migration of the relevant data, everyone insured by IKK-Direkt was able to receive full, qualified customer support from the Techniker Krankenkasse from the day the merger took effect", reports Michael Pätsch, Head of IT at the Techniker Krankenkasse.
Following the migration of current member and benefits data, the second phase will involve the transfer of historical membership and benefits data to a "merger archive".
"On the basis of our in-depth knowledge of the ISKV system and available data migration solutions, we have specialized in data consolidation. This enabled us to ensure rapid, reliable integration while responding appropriately to other requirements during normal business operations - e.g. the input of data into accessible electronic health card (eGK) systems like cardtrust", explains Andreas Zikofsky, Managing Director of CompuGROUP Services GmbH. "Our work on this project offers impressive proof that we are the ideal partner for health insurers when it comes to future merger projects," adds Zikofsky.
