Blaubeuren, March 11, 2008 - centrotherm photovoltaics AG, based in the town of Blaubeuren in the Germany state of Baden-Württemberg, has opened two new locations abroad: effective immediately, the provider of technology and services for the production of solar cells and solar silicon is represented in Treviso, Italy by fully-owned subsidiary centrotherm photovoltaics Italia S.R.L. Italy offers attractive feed-in fees for solar power, and is growing in importance for the photovoltaics industry. In the past, centrotherm photovoltaics has already received an order from Helios, Italy, for several megawatt turn-key lines for the production of solar cells. In the future, such orders will be processed by locals in Italy, in order to provide even faster service locally.
In the US, in Atlanta, Georgia, centrotherm photovoltaics USA Inc. has also begun operations. This is also a fully-owned subsidiary of centrotherm photovoltaics AG. The first order in the US has already come in: Atlanta-based Suniva Inc., a new producer of crystalline silicone solar cells, has ordered a 25 megawatt turn-key line. Delivery will begin in 2008.
By establishing these bases abroad, the company is moving forward with its strategy of expanding its international market position. "We will consequently continue to follow this strategy," says Robert Hartung, CEO of centrotherm photovoltaics AG. "We are in process of founding further branches abroad in order to provide even better service locally to our international customers." In addition to activities in Asia, where the company currently derives 70 percent of its sales, centrotherm photovoltaics plans to further expand business in the US and Europe.
