Hamburg, March 20, 2009 - MPC Capital AG (ISIN DE000A0D9Y97), the SDax-listed wealth and asset manager expects a negative net income for FY2008 of about EUR -96 (2007: EUR +38 Million).
The international financial and economic crisis has further intensified in Q4 of FY2008 and has led to a sharp drop in demand for financial products among the industry. Additionally the FY2008 result has been heavily affected by one-time effects and write-downs on investments held by MPC Capital. Among them was a significant write-down on the investment held in HCI Capital AG of EUR 80 million. Additional one-time effects can be attributed to the strategic programme launched by MPC Capital in the beginning of 2009 to further strengthen its position. Disregarding those one-time effects MPC Capital was able to achieve a positive operational result in the single digit million euros range.
MPC Capital AG will release the full FY2008 results as planned on March 25th, 2009.
