Increased Success for SM Group International in Algeria
Montreal, Canada (ots/PRNewswire)
SM Group International (SMI) has joined forces with the leading highway infrastructure firm CITIC to participate in a major contract relating to the construction of the western section of the Algerian East-West Highway. This is a highway infrastructure project that senior Algerian public works officials have called "the project of the century."
"We are proud to have been awarded this very important mandate, which consolidates our company's presence in North African and overseas regions with respect to major projects," declared SMI President and CEO Bernard Poulin.
This contract comes on the heels of five other large-scale projects that SMI has completed in Algeria, notably for such major organizations as the Agence Nationale des Barrages et Transferts (ANBT), and Sonatrach, a world leader in the energy sector.
The 26-month contract covers monitoring and supervision of the work on the western portion of the highway, which covers 399 km. SMI will deploy some thirty people to accompany CITIC for the execution of its mandate in meeting the Agence Nationale des Autoroutes (ANA-DPN) requirements.
Bernard Poulin added: "This contract is worth tens of millions of dollars, and it reinforces SMI's global initiatives as well as our corporate presence in Algeria, where we are already well-recognized for our expertise and skills."
