Abdou Diouf Confirms his Presence at the RIFÉ
Quebec, Canada (ots/PRNewswire)
The Quebec City Chamber of Commerce and its sponsoring partners (the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the French Chamber of Commerce in Canada, Quebec chapter, and the Canadian Council on Africa) for the International Meeting of the Francophone Economies (RIFÉ - Rencontre internationale de la Francophonie économique), to be held May 16 through 19, at the Loews le Concorde Hotel in Quebec (Canada), are proud to announce that his Excellency Mr. Abdou Diouf, Secretary General of the International Organization for the French-speaking World (OIF - Organisation internationale de la Francophonie), will take part in the event's official opening on May 16. Also invited are the Prime Ministers of Quebec and Canada, Jean Charest and Stephen Harper, as well as the Mayor of Quebec City, Régis Labeaume.
In addition, RIFÉ sponsors were also very happy to have received confirmation of the support of the OIF's Economic Commission and of the provincial and Canadian governments for this event. This unique event of international significance, with 68 francophone countries invited, promises to be fully dedicated to the economic dimension of the French-speaking world. Recommendations coming from this Meeting will be brought to the attention of political decision-makers attending the 12th Francophone Summit, which will also be held in Quebec City in October of this year. In order to inform participants and the various interested observers and provide them with the tools to understand this significant initiative, the sponsors have launched a website entirely dedicated to the RIFÉ: http://www.ccquebec.ca/rife2008. A community of practice (digital animation platform) will soon be developed to promote reflection and discussions on this topic. Information about that tool will be released on the RIFÉ website.
RIFÉ is dedicated to allowing various members of the French-speaking world to give new momentum to an economic region rich in opportunities and to developing trade, institutional and public affairs relations based on a consensual and avant-garde foundation.
