Düdingen (ots)
The Cheese World Champion von Mühlenen family was honoured 12 times at the World Cheese Awards in Dublin for its Le Gruyère Premier Cru, Emmentaler Tradition
Premier Cru and 5 further Swiss cheese specialities.
The von Mühlenen family, Cheese World Champions in 1992, 2002, 2005 and 2006, collected a total of 12 awards at this year's World Cheese Awards event, resulting in it being one of the most successful participants; it also took the best Le Gruyère AOC and the best Hard AOC Cheese titles, as well as achieving an overall 3rd place across all classes. The annual World Cheese Awards was held this year in Dublin from 29.09 to 1.10.08.
A total of 2,400 cheeses from around the world took part.

The von Mühlenen family has thus achieved further success for Swiss cheese, following on from the World Champion titles claimed at the World Cheese Awards held in 1992, 2002, 2005 and also in 2006 (in Wisconsin, USA). The fact that also relatively unknown and new cheeses received awards alongside the well known cheeses, such as Le Gruyère and Emmentaler, demonstrates that Switzerland has a huge selection of high quality cheeses to offer - and the von Mühlenen family is proud to be able to contribute to Switzerland also having international success with new cheeses.
The von Mühlenen family has been devoting itself for 4 generations to traditional raw milk cheese from Switzerland, and markets these across the world. The family is represented by its own subsidiaries in the most important overseas markets - Germany, England and Italy, and works with sales partners in other countries. The business is managed by Roger von Mühlenen and his son Walo von Mühlenen. Over 50 cheese dairies supply their raw milk cheeses to the von Mühlenen business, and the company's portfolio of cheeses includes over 100 specialities alongside the world renowned Le Gruyère Premier Cru and Emmentaler Premier Cru.
