Accreditation Opens for B.C. International Media Centre at 2010 Winter Olympic Games

The application process for the 2010 Winter Games Secretariat's British Columbia International Media Centre (BCMC) at Robson Square Plaza has officially opened as the one-year countdown to the 2010 Winter Olympic Games begins.
Located in the heart of downtown Vancouver, the BCMC will provide working space for all media. Those media who have obtained accreditation from their National Olympic Committee and unaccredited members of the press corps will have access to the Centre's stand-up locations; press briefings concerning all aspects of the 2010 Games, including security, transportation, athletes and tourism; as well as complementary services unique from the Main Press Centre.
Broadcast stand-up locations will offer stunning views of Vancouver city life and scenery, including a programmed outdoor skating rink. Locations will be fully equipped with electricity, Internet connections and fiber-optic cable back to the main BCMC feed room for distribution to tape or home-studio location. Also, all locations will be covered and all cable will be fully lit and equipped for a HD signal.
For journalists requiring assistance with technical needs in the BCMC, a help desk and concierge service will be open 24 hours a day throughout the Games.
All accredited media will have access to multiple HD flat screens showing feeds of Olympic events, free broadband WiFi Internet, filing rooms, work desks with wired broadband Internet and AC power, and more. Photographers will have access to high-speed lines with high bandwidth for photo transmission, computer stations equipped with the latest processing software, storage lockers and technicians and engineers to assist with equipment questions or problems.
