2nd July 2010 - The wind farm developer PNE WIND AG (ISIN: DE000A0JBPG2) has completed another important step in the preparation for the start of construction of the offshore wind farm "Gode Wind II" in the North Sea. In the past few months, the necessary building ground survey was carried out for the sites of all planned 84 wind energy plants and the transformer station. Thorsten Fastenau, manager of the offshore division and chief representative of PNE WIND AG, explains the results: "The surveys were carried out with a special boat in accordance with the building ground surveying standards of the BSH (Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency). For this, 84 cone penetration tests were made with an average survey depth of 48 metres and 11 additional holes were drilled for the removal of soil samples."
The survey was carried out by Fugro Consult GmbH with technical support from two representatives of the foundation engineers Steinfeld&Partner GbR, who also produced the survey concept. The work in the project area about 40 kilometres to the north of the island of Norderney took around 10 weeks. For the survey, the 111-metre-longe offshore drilling ship "Fugro Saltire" was used, which among other things has its own 150-ton crane on board and was placed into service in 2008 especially for offshore deployments.
With the completion of this deep building ground survey at the sites of the future offshore wind energy plants, an important step has been taken in the framework of the concrete technical development of the offshore project "Gode Wind II". Martin Billhardt, Chairman of PNE WIND AG: "Together with our project partners, we are working very intensively and on the most various levels to meet all the conditions for the start of construction of this offshore wind farm project as swiftly as possible. The successful survey makes us confident that it will be possible to start the realisation of "Gode Wind II" in 2011/2012."
