EANS-Adhoc: JoWooD Entertainment AG reports stable development and higher earnings in a difficult environment

annual report
30.04.2010
Notwithstanding difficult economic conditions, JoWooD was able to generate stable turnover and increase net income by some 21 percent in the fiscal year 2009.
Turnover amounted to EUR 25.278 million after EUR 25.035 million in 2008 and net income came to EUR 1.206 million after EUR 1.0 million in the previous year. EBIT increased by 8% year on year to EUR 2.134 million.
In line with the Company´s conservative valuation policy, special items adding up to a difference of EUR 259,000 compared with the preliminary result presented on 26 March 2009 were taken into account in the final Group result for 2009. For prudential reasons and paying due regard to the persistently challenging market situation, the Company, by comparison to the preliminary figures, set up additional provisions and reserves in anticipation of potential price movements and rebates.
For the year 2010, management expects a marked increase in turnover and in the results. These increases will be primarily due to new releases. The management expressly points out that volatility can be expected with regard to the individual quarterly results. Investments will mainly be made in the first half of the year, while most of the turnover will be generated in the second half (ArcaniA).
Due to technical delays in the consolidation of the Group's (partially foreign) subsidiaries, the financial report for the year will be published on 7 May 2010.
