Zurich, the city with the highest rents among German-speaking countries and the highest turnovers worldwide
Zurich, Switzerland( ots) - Along Zurich's Bahnhofstrasse the rents for retail stores are considerably higher than in Munich and Vienna. Zurich equals New York and Hong Kong for sales revenues per square meter, and boasts the highest purchasing-power worldwide, as well as the international highest per capita income along with the highest quality of life, even outperforming London or Paris.
Along the Bahnhofstrasse the rental amounts for retail spaces are reaching new highs of up to CHF 7,500 (EUR 4,520) per square meter annually. International luxury companies like the gentlemen's outfitter Ermenegildo Zegna, who operates 550 stores worldwide, achieve their best sales figures globally at this location. Globus generates more than CHF 180 million (EUR 108 million) on 7,500 square meters, and is part of the most productive department stores worldwide with CHF 24,000 in sales revenue per square meter annually. Along the luxury mile, Cartier added a new, completely renovated store, after taking over the retail store from Rosenthal in spring of 2007. The entirely renovated Confiserie Sprüngli also lights up after complete renovation. In summer 2007, the watch and accessories company Fossil took over Accessorize's retail space, situated between Swatch and H&M. The retail chain for women's fashion, Bonita, opened its Swiss flagship store in May 2007 between Swarovski and Body Shop. The largest international cashmere producer, Loro Piana, as well as the watch manufacturer Blancpain, will make their debut at the Bahnhofstrasse in 2008.
G-Star opened its first Swiss store in December 2007 at the corner Uraniastrasse. The unique restaurant Vertigo with a lounge style like Supper Club celebrated their opening in December 2007 at the Hirschenplatz. The Club Saint Germain on the upper floor of the Bally Capitol opened on the Rennweg in February 2007 with a glamorous first visit by Paris Hilton.
Zurich, the largest Swiss city, has a population of approximately 3 million people, including surrounding areas. The main train station is frequented daily by more than 320,000 people.
