October 27, 2010: CompuGroup Medical AG will invest 130 million Euros in the healthcare system within the next 5 years. Operating expenses will include the already initiated development of innovative new products in the Software Assisted Medicine (SAM) product line. Various tools for the online communication between the medical office team and the patient will be introduced with the second of ten planned expenditures: CGM Life eServices. They will simplify daily activities in the medical office and save time and money - with additional benefits for the patients. They are also designed to be especially user-friendly and are therefore a very effective instrument for successful marketing by the medical office.
The Internet enables the convenient organization of many daily tasks from home - around the clock and on the weekend. Very soon this will also include the communication between the medical office and the patient: CompuGroup Medical is one of the first companies in Germany that has developed a fully integrated on- line service for medical offices - the CGM Life eServices.
In the near future, onlineTerminbuchung` (online appointment scheduling), onlineRezepte` (online prescriptions), onlineBefunde` (online findings inquiries) and onlineSprechstunde` (online consultations) can be taken care of via the medical office website. After the conclusion of the current pilot program, these CGM Life eServices will be launched throughout Germany in early 2011. A special point of interest for the physician: the data is compatible with the doctor information system and is transferred within seconds. The online services not only represent an innovative additional service for patients, they also lower administrative expenditures and efforts and cut down on phone calls. This results in the entire medical office team having more time for what is really important: Increasing the efficiency of the medical office, especially patient care.
Here´s an example: Mr. Müller doesn´t feel well and wants to see his doctor. On his primary physician´s website, he can see the available under the online appointment scheduling and sends an appointment inquiry. The office assistant confirms it directly from the calendar of her doctor information system and initiates a reminder text message a few hours prior to the appointment. This effectively reduces downtime due to unkept appointments.
In the medical office, the physician diagnoses Mr. Müller with a chronic illness and points out the online prescription section to him: After he has used up his supply of medication, the patient is able to conveniently request another prescription via the website and avoids unnecessary phone calls and wait times in the physician´s office.
Prior to his outpatient surgery, Mr. Müller still has a few questions. With the online consultation, the medical office staff is able to conveniently answer his questions via the doctor information system. Waiting on hold is therefore a thing of the past. In addition, the dialogue is immediately saved to Mr. Müller´s chart.
After the surgery, the patient wants to know more about the findings. His attending physician makes the information available to him - it is just one mouse click away under the online findings inquiries. Once Mr. Müller is back home again, he logs in via the medical office website and is able to view his findings and even print them out.
Not only does the physician gain valuable time through CGM Life eServices, which he is able to spend seeing other patients, he also increases the efficiency of his medical office and scores points with his patients by providing them with this popular additional service. Even more importantly: the electronic data exchange is handled in a highly secure manner via CompuGroup Medical´s vita-X technology, which is TÜV-certified (German Association for Technical Inspections) and is one of the most secure systems worldwide.
