Hirsch´s Lars Suneborn Appointed to Lead Rewrite of RTCA National Airport Access Control Standards

Santa Ana, Calif., November 8, 2011 (euro adhoc) - Hirsch Electronics, a leading
security systems manufacturer and a business unit of Identive Group, Inc.
(NASDAQ: INVE, Frankfurt: INV) announces Lars Suneborn, Director of the
Government Program Group for Hirsch, will lead the RTCA (Radio Technical
Commission for Aeronautics) Subcommittee SC 224 effort to update the RTCA DO230
Integrated Security System Standard for Airport Access Control.

A thirty-year veteran of the identity management and access control industries,
Suneborn will lead the RTCA subcommittee through a complete overhaul and
revision of physical access control system performance standards for the U.S.
air transport industry.  Last updated in February 2008, these standards provide
guidance to airports nationwide on the implementation of airport staff security
systems including identity management and credentials, physical access control,
intrusion detection and video surveillance. The official standards advisory
council will meet several times over the next 16 months.  

Suneborn stated, "The justification for the rewrite reflects the emergence of
new smart cards, identity management and credential technology along with the
impact modern technologies and innovations have on physical access control
systems.  Technology improvements have been so significant the most effective
approach is a comprehensive redraft of the standards."
 
Along with the committee´s security industry experts, key personnel from FAA,
TSA, AAAE, ACC, ACI, DHS and additional industry-associated individuals will be
invited to attend and observe.  The presence of influential aviation
decision-makers allows for complete, comprehensive understanding of the new
access control standards as they are developed, easing future implementation of
the guidelines by the aviation industry. "The idea here," Suneborn explained,
"is to provide uniformity of standards across the industry so that the federal
funding process for critical access control improvements can be streamlined." 
The new policies can be used by both commercial and private airports, airstrips,
landing fields and other industry-related facilities.
