Hamburg, 25 May 2007. The French AREVA Group announced yesterday that it does not intend to take any further steps in the takeover battle for REpower Systems AG.
AREVA will retain its stake in REpower for the time being and continue to support the company. In addition, AREVA will become SUZLON´s preferred provider for current distribution and transmission.
In the past, REpower had already made it clear that both providers are suitable strategic partners for an accelerated growth in the internationally heavy growing wind energy industry. As a result of this agreement between AREVA and SUZLON, REpower could now benefit from cooperation with both bidders.
The CEO of REpower Systems AG, Prof. Fritz Vahrenholt, explains: "In the short term, we intend to define a joint strategy with SUZLON to realise synergies which result from the use of the component capacities of the SUZLON group in combination with REpower´s outstanding technology."
