25.06.2008
Hamburg, 25 June 2008. Prof. Dr. Fritz Vahrenholt, Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of REpower Systems AG (WKN 617 703), today notified his resignation of the supervisory committee with effect from 10 July 2008 to avoid possible prospective conflicts of interest.
Vahrenholt has been Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board since 1 January 2008. Before, he was CEO of the third largest German wind energy turbine manufacturer, REpower Systems AG, for more than six years. Vahrenholt´s resignation relates to his current position as CEO of RWE Innogy GmbH; REpower and the RWE subsidiary are currently in negotiation for framework agreements concerning the delivery of wind energy turbines with a total rated power of up to 1,900 MW. By his resignation, Mr. Vahrenholt intends to avoid possible prospective conflicts of interest which might arise from his activity in the supervisory board of REpower on the one hand and in the management of RWE Innogy on the other hand.
The REpower supervisory board is going to promptly deliberate on a potential successor. Both, the REpower executive board and the supervisory board thank Prof. Vahrenholt for his commitment as Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board.
