In the first three months of the year, Air Berlin PLC achieved a significant sales volume increase, reaching a total of EUR 373.1 million. For the same period of the previous year, this figure amounted to EUR 224 million (pro forma including dba: EUR 336.3 million). The efficiency increases and synergies resulting from the integration of dba are contributing to the positive earnings development in operations. Compared to the previous year, EBITDAR (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, amortization and lease expenses) increased by EUR 20 million, i.e. from EUR -14.5 million (pro forma including dba: EUR -17.5 million) to EUR +5.5 million. At EUR -60.7 million, earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) were almost at the same level as in the same quarter of the previous year (Q1/2006: EUR -57.8 million; pro forma including dba: EUR -77.5 million). Measured in terms of sales volume, EBIT margins improved by 9.5 percentage points. For the first quarter of 2007, a net loss of EUR 41.3 million was recorded (Q1/2006: EUR -31.1 million; pro forma including dba: EUR -46.8 million). The revenue per available seat kilometer (ASK) rose to 5.77 eurocents (+4.1 per cent). For the first quarter of 2006, this figure was 5.54 eurocents.
