Ad hoc Notification Pursuant to § 15 of the German Securities Trading Act (WpHG)

London, 18 August 2011 - Air Berlin PLC informs that Mr. Joachim Hunold intends
to offer his resignation from the office as CEO of the company as per 1
September 2011. Mr. Joachim Hunold would like to remain bound to the company for
the future as a Non-Executive Director and has recommended that Mr. Hartmut
Mehdorn who is already a member of the Board of Directors of the company becomes
his interim successor as CEO.
