Out of this World Vacation with Bungalo
Scotia (ots/PRNewswire)
Looking for an out of this world destination for your next weekend get-away? Icelandic travel resource Bungalo [http://www.Bungalo.com] has just the thing: a weekend in a cozy Swedish cabin with a truly unique location...the moon.
Partnering with Swedish artist Mikael Genberg and his innovative Moonhouse project, Bungalo is the first platform in the world giving intrepid travelers the chance to rent a charming cottage on the barren lunar landscape.
Having launched in Iceland in 2011, the concept of facilitating rentals of vacation homes in seemingly desolate locales is not new to Bungalo. Iceland played host to NASA astronauts training for the Apollo missions in the '60s, and the country's landscape has since earned a reputation for being 'otherworldly.' As Bungalo continues to expand its summerhouse listings on earth - the company currently lists hundreds of rentals in Iceland, Canada, and Sweden - they've now taken a massive leap into space.
"We're a pretty ambitious young company. We like to have fun. So listing this house on the moon is right up our alley; it's exciting," said Bungalo founder, Haukur Guethjónsson of his company's new listing. "Bungalo has always worked to give vacationers memorable stays in Iceland, Canada, and Sweden, but I can't think of something more memorable than a stay on the moon!"
The Moonhouse is available for rent at Bungalo.com/moonhouse [http://www.Bungalo.com/moonhouse]. Prospective renters should note that transportation is not included, nor is bedding, oxygen or wifi. The Moonhouse does come equipped with a spork and bragging rights.
The Moonhouse is an art installation that seeks to launch a self-constructing traditional red and white Swedish house on the lunar surface in October 2015 with the help of American firm Astrobotic. The $15 million project is in the midst of a Kickstarter campaign [https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1317303162/the-moonhouse?ref=nav_search] and all those who rent a night or two on the moon through Bungalo [http://www.bungalo.com/moonhouse] can rest assured that, even if they can't line up a rocket in time, they've supported a truly out of this world project.
Based in Reykjavík andHalifax, Bungalo [http://www.bungalo.com] is a friendly intermediary between cottage owners and renters, currently listing hundreds of cottages and apartments throughout Iceland, Nova Scotia, and Sweden.
