Juice Technology AG, producer of electric charging stations and software and the market leader in portable charging stations for electric cars, presents its JUICE CHARGER me – a simple, compact and economical wall-mounted charger that can be installed and connected in no time at all. It’s one of the first AC charging stations designed for the Plug and Charge protocol charging standard. The unit offers full connectivity and on-board charging and load management functions, and is future-proof equipped. And on top of its already unbeatable price-performance ratio, Juice is offering a EUR 100 rebate on the first 3,000 JUICE CHARGER me units sold.

Maximised ease of operation without any compromises in functionality or design. These are the defining qualities of the JUICE CHARGER me – the latest offering from Swiss-based Juice Technology. The simplicity of functionality that Tesla Superchargers are known for can now be enjoyed at home and in covered car-park areas and multi-storey car parks thanks to the JUICE CHARGER me. Because this smart charger is not only a top individual performer: it also functions perfectly in networked multi-unit configurations.

Plug and Play for providers – Plug and Charge for customers

Open the housing, connect the power feeder line, set the cover  in place – and you're done. One major advantage of the JUICE CHARGER me is just how quickly and easily it can be installed. The charging station leaves the factory completely preconfigured and ready for immediate use at the end customer: the installing electrician doesn’t have to make any special adjustments or install any accessories. This is why “Plug and Play” is such a fitting concept here.

Activate, plug in, and start charging: This simplicity continues during the charging process. Colour-coded LEDs with self-explanatory symbols indicate the current status to the user: Operational readiness, activation by RFID card, active charging operation. And it works even more simply with Plug and Charge-enabled e-vehicles: activation occurs immediately when the charging coupling is plugged into the car’s charge-port socket because the station automatically identifies the car. Christoph Erni, CEO and founder of Juice Technology AG, puts it this way: “Juice integrates this function as a standard feature in accordance with ISO 15118 in all JUICE CHARGER me units. We’re thus once again ahead of our competitors who so far offer this function – if at all – only as an optional extra. When all is said and done, charging has got to be simple and easy – regardless whether a mobile phone or an electric car.”

Communication and load management

The JUICE CHARGER me can be installed as an individual unit in private parking spaces, carports or your garage at home, or in multi-unit configurations serving multi-storey car parks and fleet car-park areas. This smart charger is equipped for locally dynamic load management for up to 250 units. In such configurations, one device takes control of equally distributing the available current to all the other stations. And wherever greater flexibility is needed, the infinitely scalable smartJUICE omni-dynamic load management system can be deployed to optimum advantage, offering real-time monitoring or prioritising of individual vehicles, for example. All that’s needed for both these options is a LAN connection. Neither Bluetooth nor WLAN are required.

The JUICE CHARGER me units communicate via the Ethernet cable not only with each other, but also with the j+ back-end system. In public installations utilising this wallbox, such as at hotel, golf club or fitness centre parking facilities, this allows comprehensive usage analysis and provides operators a means for billing management. To ensure operation with charging and load management, facilities deploying two or more stations are always equipped with electricity meters certified to the European Measuring Instruments Directive (MID) requirements. This meter can also be integrated on request for single-unit charging stations.

Made in Germany

All components of the JUICE CHARGER me are manufactured and assembled in Germany. Yet, this charging station still costs less than other units of comparable performance range. This also clearly demonstrates that a wallbox charger Made in Germany does not have to be expensive.

The essential benefits of the JUICE CHARGER me in a nutshell:

Compact design: Measuring 24 cm long and 12 cm deep, the JUICE CHARGER me is particularly compact, and also very light, weighing in at only 6.5 kg (including the cable). The 5-metre-long cable ensure the necessary flexibility.
Charging power: Single-, 2- or 3-phase charging at a current ranging from six to 32 amps (A) delivers charging power of up to 22 kW. For subsidisation under KfW development bank promotion, there is a variant designed for 16 A and a charging output of 11 kW.
Plug and Play: The wallbox comes completely preconfigured and ready for immediate use, minimising the installation work needed.
Plug and Charge: The JUICE CHARGER me is certified to ISO 15118 requirements. Once plugged into the e-car’s charge port socket, the charging station automatically recognises every vehicle designed for the Plug-and-Charge standard protocol and previously registered at the charger with the vehicle ID, and starts the charge process immediately.
Charging and load management: Each unit comes equipped for locally dynamic charging management for up to 250 charging stations in master-slave operation. The cloud-based omni-dynamic smartJUICE charging management system is available to accommodate an infinite number of wallbox units. An MID-certified electricity meter is integrated in every device destined for operation using charging and load management.
Connectivity: The standardised Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) provides the backbone for connection to the j+ back-end system, enabling device management, remote maintenance, billing and/or load management. Three standardised interfaces (Modbus/TCP, Modbus/RTU and EEBUS) ensure communication with a Home Energy Management System. This allows integration of photovoltaic solar-power installations into home energy management systems and external load management control. All communication is implemented via the Ethernet connection. When used as a private individual charging station, however, no permanent network connection is needed, so operation is also possible without any LAN connection. All that’s needed to implement updates is to hook up a tablet or laptop computer.
Sophisticated, safe and reliable design: The JUICE CHARGER me has a frame of brushed chromium steel and a front panel of UV-resistant polycarbonate glass. This charger, with its IP54 protection rating, is thus suitable for use indoors and outdoors and is highly shock-resistant (to IK10 rating). The device is operable in ambient temperatures ranging from -25°C to +45°C. Its temperature sensor for reducing the charging current functions independently of ambient temperature The charging station is CE-compliant in accordance with the European Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive and Standards IEC 61851 and IEC 61439-7.
Installation: The JUICE CHARGER me can be either fix-wall-mounted as a wallbox, or mounted as an individual or dual paired units on a pedestal.
Activation: An RFID reader is integrated behind the front panel. Activation by RFID is enabled for all vehicles that do not support the ISO Standard 15118 for the Plug and Charge protocol. The two cards included with the purchased device can be blocked and replaced in case they are lost. It’s also possible to save the access data to an RFID badge.
Price: EUR 999.00 minus the EUR 100.00 Juice rebate on the first 3000 units sold. Price including VAT.
