Anapaya, AWS and InterCloud to Expand SCION network access for Swiss Critical Infrastructure Sectors

Anapaya, a Swiss networking solutions provider, has collaborated with AWS (Amazon Web Services) and managed connectivity provider, InterCloud, to facilitate SCION network access for sectors with critical infrastructure needs, including financial services, life sciences, and public sector.
Developed at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH), SCION (Scalability, Control, and Isolation On Next-Generation Networks) is a next-generation internet architecture that aims to offer high availability, high security and efficient point-to-point network packet delivery that has become an industry standard in Switzerland, notably for banking and healthcare. The Swiss National Bank and SIX have announced that the SCION-based Secure Swiss Finance Network (SSFN) will replace the existing Finance IPNet by September 2024. Health Info Net AG (HIN), the standard for secure communication for healthcare professionals in Switzerland connecting over 50,000 Swiss healthcare organizations and practitioners, has been using SCION since early 2023.
Anapaya's introduction of the virtual appliance, Anapaya EDGE, in the AWS Marketplace enables SCION network access for AWS users. Through their collaboration with AWS, they have also developed a reference architecture that guides customers and providers in establishing SCION connectivity, providing a streamlined solution for AWS customers. Leveraging the Anapaya solution built on AWS, InterCloud now offers SCION connectivity through Anapaya EDGE to its AWS-based customers, enhancing flexibility and reliability for critical infrastructures.

For Anapaya, introducing EDGE on AWS aligns with its goal to offer secure global connectivity. Previously focusing on on-premises deployments, this cloud-based option positions Anapaya EDGE as a key player in digital transformation. It's especially relevant for cloud-native companies like neo-banks, aiming to boost security.
