Latest special coin to be issued: The Schilthorn cable car silver coin is the third in a three-part series on Swiss cable cars
On 22 April 2024, Swissmint is issuing the new Schilthorn cable car silver coin, the third in the three-part series on Swiss glaciers. The new special coin honours the history and importance of the region.
Swissmint produces exclusive and limited-edition collector coins under the name "Swiss special coins". The Schilthorn is of great tourist and cultural importance for Switzerland, not only offering spectacular views of the Swiss Alps that attract thousands of visitors every year, but also achieving international fame thanks to its appearance in the James Bond film "On Her Majesty's Secret Service". The Schilthornbahn 20XX project envisages a new direct connection between Stechelberg and Mürren, which will be the steepest cableway in the world when completed. The new Schilthorn cable car special coin is a way of remembering the old cable car.
