Yoh Narimatsu Appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Quintiles Japan
Research Triangle Park, North Carolina (ots/PRNewswire)
Quintiles Transnational Corp. today announced the appointment of Yoh Narimatsu as President and Chief Executive Officer of Quintiles Transnational Japan K.K. (Quintiles Japan) effective April 1.
Narimatsu, who has more than 30 years of international business experience, will lead all operations of Quintiles Japan. Quintiles Japan is a leading provider of development, commercial and financial solutions to pharma and biotech companies operating in Japan, the world's second-largest pharmaceutical market.
Prior to joining Quintiles, Narimatsu was President and Country General Manager of Agilent Technologies Japan, Ltd., a global technology leader in communications, electronics, life sciences and chemical analysis.
Narimatsu, 57, will report to Quintiles Transnational Chairman and CEO Dennis Gillings, CBE. He succeeds Mikihiko Obayashi, Ph.D., as President of Quintiles Japan. Obayashi will remain Vice Chairman of Quintiles Japan, a position he has held since 2004.
Narimatsu also will be a member of the Quintiles Japan Board, which provides oversight and governance of Quintiles Japan operations from national and global perspectives; Gillings will continue to serve as Chairman of that Board.
"Narimatsu-san brings to Quintiles Japan extensive management experience and demonstrated success in managing the Japanese operations of a multi-faceted global organization," Gillings said. "The Japanese pharmaceutical market is dynamic, and with this appointment I believe we've significantly enhanced our ability to help our pharmaceutical and biotech customers succeed in Japan and globally."
Narimatsu joined Agilent Technologies Japan in 1999 as President and Country General Manager. Prior to that, he was General Manager of the Kobe Instrument Division of Hewlett-Packard Japan. He began his career at Hewlett-Packard in 1971 as a research and development engineer and served in increasingly responsible positions in the United States and Japan during his 28-year career with the company.
Narimatsu received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Kyoto University in Kyoto, Japan, in 1971; a master's degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University in 1976; and a master's degree in business administration in 1995, also from Stanford.
