Production in Germany: BKW strengthens its commitment to wind energy

BKW FMB Energy Ltd (BKW) is expanding its commitment to wind energy and acquiring the project rights to a wind farm in the north-east German state of Brandenburg. Project developer of the 40 MW wind park is the Ventotec GmbH based in Lower Saxony. Work on constructing the wind farm is already underway, with commissioning expected in the last quarter of this year. BKW is thus reinforcing its position as Switzerland's leading provider of wind energy. Dubener Platte wind farm will have an installed output of 40 MW, producing some 85.5 GWh of CO2-free energy a year from a total of 20 turbines. This is the equivalent to the annual power consumption of more than 20,000 households. The wind farm is being built at Luckau, in Brandenburg, a region renowned for its reliable supply of wind. The wind farm has been developed by German company Ventotec GmbH, of Lower Saxony, which is also responsible for project implementation. BKW and Ventotec have agreed not to reveal details surrounding the cost of the acquisition. The construction of this wind farm reinforces BKW's position as Switzerland's leading producer of wind energy.
