Acquisition of three wind farms in Germany

Bern (ots)

The HelveticWind joint venture is expanding its presence in Germany with the acquisition of three wind farms in Brandenburg. The farms have a total capacity of 48 MW.

Combined production from the 24 turbines at the three farms - Gross Welle (20 MW), Prötzel (18 MW) and Wulkow (10 MW) - is around 85 GWh. The partners have agreed not to disclose the purchase price for the newly acquired wind farms. HelveticWind already has two other wind farms in Germany, at Sendenhorst (North Rhine Westphalia) and Lüdersdorf-Parstein (Brandenburg), with a combined capacity of 37 MW. Their output is around 80 GWh of electricity.

HelveticWind is a joint venture founded in March 2010 by Energie Wasser Bern (ewb) and BKW Energy Ltd. In January 2012 they were joined by EBL (Genossenschaft Elektra Baselland), EKZ Renewables AG - a subsidiary of Elektrizitätswerke des Kantons Zürich (EKZ) - and SN Erneuerbare Energie AG (SNEE). The partners' objective is to build a portfolio of wind farms with total capacity of 170 MW over the coming years. ekb and BKW each have a 29% stake in the venture, while EKZ holds slightly over 20% and EBL and SNEE have just under 11% each. HelveticWind are currently focusing their activities in Germany and Italy.
