Relaunch of www.swissinfo.org
Berne (ots)
Three years after its initial launch, swissinfo's website (http://www.swissinfo.org) is getting a new look. The updated design will make swissinfo/Swiss Radio International's online platform even more user friendly. www.swissinfo.org provides online information and services, designed especially for the Swiss abroad. In addition, the multimedia section is now available in nine languages, including English.
Launched in 1999, www.swissinfo.org is a Swiss news and information provider whose principal mission is to inform both the Swiss abroad and an international audience about everything that's making the headlines in Switzerland. Available in nine languages (English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Japanese and Chinese), the website offers a unique insight into Swiss politics, business, society, travel, culture, science, technology, sport and weather.
The swissinfo website also offers a special section for the Swiss abroad, including in-depth information on parliamentary affairs and nationwide votes. It also features a Message Board to facilitate contact between Swiss expatriates.
As part of the relaunch, a new multimedia function will allow swissinfo/SRI to provide audio, video and images on all of its nine language sites.
The swissinfo "Services" site has also been given a facelift. It's now easier than ever to find links to other Swiss Internet sites, via the Swisslinks section, and to navigate around Switzerland, using the geographical information system, Maps. The free e-mail service (http://freemail.swissinfo.org) has also been updated and by the end of the year, a personalised news-on-demand feature will be made available, allowing Internet users to have swissinfo news sent directly to their e-mail inbox.
