Vienna, December 16, 2008: The Telekom Austria Group (VSE: TKA, OTC US: TKAGY) today announced that the Supervisory Board of Telekom Austria AG has appointed Hannes Ametsreiter as Head of the Fixed Net segment of the Telekom Austria Group for a term of five years starting from January 1, 2009. Hannes Ametsreiter has also been appointed as CEO of Telekom Austria TA AG, the Fixed Net subsidiary, while maintaining his position as Chief Marketing Officer of mobilkom austria, the domestic mobile subsidiary. Furthermore, the Supervisory Board appointed Hans Tschuden, the Chief Financial Officer as Vice Chairman of the Management Board of the Telekom Austria Group.
Peter Michaelis, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, said: "Hannes Ametsreiter is one of the most renowned experts of the Austrian and European telecommunication industry. His experience and the evident success as Chief Marketing Officer of mobilkom austria and since 2007 as Chief Marketing Officer of the Fixed Net segment uniquely qualifies him for this position. His appointment guarantees a coordinated management of all marketing and sales activities throughout the domestic Fixed Net and Mobile Communication business. I also would like to thank Boris Nemsic who has headed the Fixed Net segment in the interim for promoting its further development."

Hannes Ametsreiter started his career at Procter & Gamble as international brand assistant manager. In 1996 he joined mobilkom austria and since then he has held several management positions in the marketing and product/communications departments. In 2001 he became Chief Marketing Officer of mobilkom austria. Hannes Ametsreiter was Chief Marketing Officer at Mobiltel in Bulgaria from July 2005 to July 2006. In 2007 he was appointed as Chief Marketing Officer of the Fixed Net operations in addition to his CMO position in the domestic mobile operations.
