Gräfelfing/Munich, 2 December 2003
According to preliminary figures, Hönle (ISIN: DE 0005157101) increased sales revenues by 33 % at group level from TEUR 13,285 to TEUR 17,723 in financial year 2002/2003. Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) climbed from TEUR -1,419 in the previous financial year to TEUR 2,005 in 2002/2003. The EBIT margin is 11.3 %. Earnings before taxes (EBT) improved from TEUR -873 to TEUR 2,520 and net income for the year rose from TEUR -1,066 to TEUR 1,850, an after-tax yield of 10.4 %.
As before, Hönles capital ratio is 83 per cent. Liquid assets and financial assets grew by 6 % from TEUR 15,175 in the previous year to TEUR 16,098. The total liquid assets and financial assets inventory as at 30 September 2003 is EUR 3.07 per share.
Three factors contributed to this sales and income improvement which was achieved despite rather subdued economic development:
- As a result of the Companys orientation as a systems supplier, Hönle is increasingly regarded as a competent and systems solution-oriented supplier of systems, lamps and adhesives. - Hönles IPO significantly improved the Companys awareness level; stronger than before, the Company is regarded as a reliable UV-supplier by technology and global market leaders. - Owing to sound balance sheet structures, Hönle is regarded as a long term business partner, and this is of increasing importance in todays market environment.
Hönle succeeded in opening up interesting new areas of UV application. In comparison with the previous year, demand has also improved perceptibly in the USA and in traditional printing applications.
Outlook: Hönle recorded a significant upswing in demand, in particular during the last six months of the financial year. Orders received in the last quarter as well as the state of the order book at the end of the financial year indicate that the positive sales and income development will continue. This assessment is supported by the great interest in Hönle products observed in recent trade fairs.
