Compulsory registration for PrePay customers: Orange PrePay customers can now register at 2,100 post offices
Lausanne (ots)
From 1st August 2004, Orange PrePay customers will not only be able to register at Orange locations, but also at over 2,100 branches of the post office. Customers thus have a nationwide network of registration and retail outlets at their disposal. According to the new legal regulations, registration must be complete by 31st October 2004. Orange will once again notify those PrePay customers concerned by SMS. The directive stipulates that any unregistered Orange PrePay cards remaining unregistered after 31st October 2004 will be blocked . Concerned are all users having brought their PrePay card into operation after 1st November 2002.
Anyone buying a new PrePay card after 1st August 2004 is required to register. Similarly, all mobile phone users having brought their PrePay card into operation after 1st November 2002 must also register. The above measures have been made compulsory by a new directive of the Swiss Council of Ministers.
For this reason, Orange PrePay customers now have a network of Orange locations and over 2,100 post office branches at their disposal. Registration requires a passport, identity card or any other official document authorising entry to Switzerland. Nationals of third countries, for example, will require a residence permit. It is not possible to register with a driving licence document.
Private customers must give their surname, first name(s), address, date of birth and occupation. Business customers will be registered under the name and address of the company's headquarters. Authority to sign on behalf of the company also requires proof (e.g. current extract of company register) and business customer representatives will need to be identified by means of a passport or identity card.
According to the new Law, Orange is obliged to block as of 1st November 2004 the concerned PrePay cards that have not been registered until this date. According to the general conditions, the PrePay credit expires 360 days after the first call if the PrePay card has not been recharged since then.
