SW Umwelttechnik will be building a production facility for sewerage
systems (pipes and shafts) in Romania in 2005. Some EUR2 million (m)
are to be invested in the new site in Ortisoara, between Timisoara
and Arad, over the next two years. Having gained a foothold in
Romania by exporting from Hungary, SW Umwelttechnik is now moving on
to a second phase of market development by meeting demand from local
capacity. At present it is mainly supplying water conservation
products to Romania.

In Hungary, SW Umwelttechnik will be extending its market shares by
building an automated pipe works at its South Budapest site. This
investment, scheduled for 2005, will double Hungarian capacity,
enabling the company to take opportunities to export to neighbouring
CEE countries as well as serving the local market. The new factory
will also add to SW Umwelttechnik’s competitive edge by enhancing
quality standards.

Following the successful completion of a large-scale sewerage project
in Romania, SW Umwelttechnik subsidiary OMS Hungária Kft. has won an
order for the construction of a drinking water network in the Zalau
area, near Cluj. The EUR6m EU-supported scheme involves laying
approx. 50 km of pipes, rehabilitating drinking water reservoirs and
installing pumping stations. The commencement of works is scheduled
for 2005, and completion for 2006.

Outlook
Investment plans for 2005 are the next steps in SW Umwelttechnik
strategy of extending its footprint in Central and Eastern, and
Southeastern Europe. These markets are likely to offer good growth
opportunities for the group’s water conservation, infrastructure and
renewable energy businesses over the next few years.
