order intake
20.02.2009
* EUR5 million order for drinking water and wastewater treatment plant in Romania * Waste water purification systems for Austrian oil pipeline * First order for bridge beams in Hungary
SW Umwelttechnik - a listed family business with its core markets in Central Europe - won orders worth over EUR7 million in February 2009 and keep order books stable despite harsh trading conditions in the industrial and commercial market segment. This success is testimony to the group's strategy of focusing on public sector's infrastructural and environmental investments.
SW Umwelttechnik subsidiary OMS Romania srl has won two orders for wastewater treatment plants in Transylvania. A EUR4.5m contract comprises a drinking water purification plant and a 20 km distribution network for the town of Sangeorgiu de Padure. It also involves a 20 km sewer network to collect wastewater for a fully biological treatment plant with a capacity of 710 cu m/hour. The other order is for a EUR1.7m project in Sancraiu de Mures, Zalau municipality, under which the sewer network will be extended by 20 km and pumping stations will be replaced. Both projects are funded by the EU and the Romanian government, and are scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 2010.
SW Umwelttechnik Österreich GmbH will supply surface water protection systems for nine pumping, pressure relief and evacuation stations on the Transalpine Ölleitung (TAL) oil pipeline in Austria and Northern Italy worth EUR500,000. These equipment will prevent any oil spills and prevent groundwater contamination.
The group has also won a EUR400,000 order for bridge beams for the Komarom bypass project - its first contract of this kind in Hungary; delivery is due in August of this year. SW Umwelttechnik is to manufacture 75 bridge members of lengths up to 33 m and deliver them to the construction site, resulting in rapid erection.
SW Umwelttechnik expects a further sharp decline in all forms of investment by industrial and commercial companies in CEE countries in 2009, but sees public sector investment holding up or even increasing due to the announced stimulus programmes.
The group will provide a detailed review of business developments in 2008 and an updated outlook for 2009 when it announces its preliminary results on 27 February 2009.
Founded in 1910, SW Umwelttechnik remains a family business, though it has been listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange since 1997. The group is known for its commitment to sustainable enterprise and rapid expansion in Central and Southeastern Europe (CSE). Its innovative environmental technology products are contributing to infrastructure renewal in CSE.
