ESCADA announces key preliminary figures for fiscal year 2007/2008
Munich, December 18, 2008 - Sales and earnings of the ESCADA Group in fiscal year 2007/2008 (reporting date: October 31) remained, as announced, clearly below the figures of the previous fiscal year. According to preliminary calculations, consolidated sales came to 582.5 million Euro, a decline of 15.1% against last year's figure of 686.1 million Euro. The decreases reflect the fact that conditions for luxury fashion were continually worsening during the course of the fiscal year, resulting in a pronounced consumer restraint above all in the fourth quarter. Currency-adjusted the Group recorded a sales minus of 13.1%.
The Group's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) came to 19.7 million Euro (2006/2007: 68.2 million Euro). The result after taxes is still being assessed at present. The clear decline of sales and expenses incurred from restructuring will translate into a loss that will exceed the figure of the previous year (-27.3 million Euro).
