New Version Drastically Enhances Ease of Extending Secure Access to All Enterprise Applications
Permeo Technologies Inc., the leader in enterprise application security gateways with over 30 percent of the Global 100 as customers, announces the latest version of its Application Security Gateway, moving significantly beyond classic SSL VPNs and other application security gateway products. A flexible solution used for SSL remote access and secure outbound proxy access, the new version adds a powerful web-based remote management console that delivers quick and easy installation, configuration, and ongoing administration. Further building on its core ability to extend application access across internal and external network perimeters, the Permeo solution also introduces native support for Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), enabling firewall traversal for many of today's popular collaborative applications.

With Application Security Gateway v5, Permeo introduces a simple, one-step installation process that cuts setup time to approximately fifteen minutes. The management console in v5 is based on a comprehensive, web-based interface derived from industry benchmarks, customer input, and usability experts with the goal of allowing non-security experts to easily enable full application access with the highest levels of security.

Many of today's most anticipated and popular applications, including voice over IP (VoIP) applications and peer-to-peer collaborative services, utilize the SIP protocol. The primary deployment challenge with these applications is to extend secure remote and outbound SIP-based application access through well configured enterprise firewalls. Most enterprise firewalls have to be opened -- resulting in reduced security -- to enable traversal of SIP-based applications. With Permeo Application Security Gateway v5.0 enterprise firewalls can be kept secure with no open and vulnerable ports while allowing SIP-based applications to easily extend between segregated networks.
