Disclosure announcement transmitted by euro adhoc. The issuer is responsible for the content of this announcement.
Vienna, 26th August 2003 - S&T System Integration & Technology Distribution AG ("S&T"; Vienna Stock Exchange: SNT; OTC: STSQY), a leading provider of IT services in Central, Eastern and Southern Europe, has received a follow-up order for server and storage infrastructure from long-standing customer UMC (Ukrainian Mobile Communications). This order represents a continuation of the successful partnership between UMC, the leading mobile communications provider in Ukraine, and S&T.
Due to rapid growth, UMC needed to increase its data management capacity in order to ensure absolute reliability, flexibility and uninterrupted operations.
S&T will implement a high-performance server (HP 9000 Superdome) and in this connection also expand UMC's storage capacity with a three terabyte solution. For illustration: Printed pages containing three terabytes of data lined up page per page would go around the world 7.5 times. S&T's bid was successful because it was the most comprehensive and was perfectly tailored to the needs of the customer. The new storage solution provided by S&T meets the highest safety requirements and will also enable UMC to reduce its operating costs.
S&T CEO Karl Tantscher is extremely pleased: "UMC has been an S&T customer for many years now. In addition to planning and supplying IT infrastructure, we have a number of long-term maintenance and service agreements for mission critical applications with the company. We are pleased that UMC has once again chosen S&T and regard this project as yet another confirmation of our business strategy and competence as a leading supplier of IT solutions in Central and Eastern Europe."
UMC was founded in 1992 and, with over 2,000,000 subscribers, is the largest mobile telephone operator in Ukraine. The company launched Ukraine's first cellular phone network built to the NMT standard in July 1993. The network now covers more than 375 regions and over 7,500 km of highway throughout the country. UMC was also the first company to launch a GSM900 network and has roaming agreements with some 100 foreign partners, allowing its customers to use their cell phones in a large number of countries throughout the world.
