Software AG to report growth in revenue and profit for Q1, 2005

Software AG (SOW) will report license revenue of approximately EUR 27
million for the first quarter 2005, (EUR 23.3 million in Q1, 2004),
according to the first consolidation of the quarter’s financial
figures. The increase of more than 15%, compared to the same quarter
in 2004, was again due to strong growth of license revenue in the XML
integration business line (+50%; revenue from Software AG integration
products increased by one third) and supported by growth in
Enterprise Transaction Systems.

Maintenance revenue remained at previous year’s level (EUR 44.1 in Q1
2004). Revenue from services (EUR 28.0 million in Q1 2004) showed an
increase of 4% due to growth in the USA. The company expects total
revenue of approximately EUR 100 million for the quarter (EUR 95.7
million in Q1, 2004).

As a result of the revenue increase, Software AG will book an
operating result (EBIT) of approximately EUR 17-18 million for the
first quarter of fiscal 2005 (EUR 15.1 million in Q1, 2004).

The consensus of all published sell-side analysis expected license
revenue of EUR 24.4 million, total revenue of EUR 98.0 million and
EBIT of EUR 17.5 million.

Full and finalized figures will be published on April 28, 2005.

For full year 2005, Software AG continues to forecast a revenue
growth of 4-6 % (at constant currency) and an EBIT margin of 20-22%.
