Atmel Wins Innovation Awards for CAP and MAX-Link
Hong Kong (ots/PRNewswire)
- AT86RF535B MAX-Link - Leading Communication IC
- AT91CAP9S - Leading Digital IC/Programmable Device
Atmel(R) Corporation (Nasdaq: ATML), a global leader in the development and fabrication of advanced semiconductor solutions, has received two leading product accolades in the prestigious EDN (Electronic Design News) China Innovation Awards 2007.
Atmel's AT86RF535B MAX-Link(TM) series of transceivers for WiMAX applications won a leading product award in the Communication IC category, while the company's AT91CAP9S customizable microcontroller was successful in the Digital IC/Programmable Device category. Products were assessed and selected by a panel of EDN China judges, consisting of industry experts and specialists from China's leading OEM companies, academic institutes, universities and EDN China's editorial board. Readers and registered users of EDN China were invited to vote for the winners in nine categories.
Commenting on winning the awards, TC Wu, Atmel's Vice President of Sales for Asia, said, "We are delighted to receive this prestigious industry recognition for MAX-Link and CAP(TM). It is particularly pleasing that our products have been selected by China's electronic design community. It is not only a reflection of the quality of both products but it also validates Atmel's business strategy in China. We have established a regional network of third-party design houses to provide design services and local-language support to our growing customer base."
Mr. Wu added, "We always strive to provide our clients with integrated solutions to help simplify their designs. By connecting MAX-Link and CAP via their common SPI interface, design engineers can quickly create a microcontroller-based system-on-chip with a WiMAX interface. We anticipate strong growth of WiMAX technology, and the success of these two award-winning products suggests that we are well positioned to address the ongoing requirements of this exciting sector. We are proud that these two EDN China Innovation Awards endorse Atmel's leadership in the development and fabrication of advanced semiconductor solutions and highlight the world class capabilities of our engineers."
About the Award-Winning CAP
Atmel's CAP(TM) is an ARM(R) microcontroller-based SoC with fast local memory, and a Metal Programmable (MP) Block that allows the designer to add custom logic. CAP enables application-specific products to be developed quicker and more economically than if using standard-cell ASICs. CAP also offers superior performance, smaller form factor and lower power consumption. CAP is fully supported with an emulation board, software development tools, operating systems, code modules and a worldwide network of expert design centers to facilitate application software development. The CAP MP Block can be personalized with IP developed by the customer, by third-party design centers or from Atmel's extensive libraries.
Atmel recently launched the AT91CAP9A-STK Starter Kit for CAP, an ideal vehicle for low-cost, no-risk evaluation of the customization capabilities of the CAP MCU.
About the Award-Winning MAX-Link
Atmel's MAX-Link series of transceivers are designed specifically for WiMAX applications. This frequency-agile, single-chip transceiver operates at 3.5 GHz with multiple bandwidth. Internal configuration and control registers can be programmed to integrate with new and existing baseband devices from different vendors.
Amongst the MAX-Link's features are its low-noise amplifier, power amplifier driver, receive/transmit mixer, receive/transmit filters, voltage-controlled oscillator, synthesizer, receive gain control, and transmit power control all completely digitally controlled. The fully differential design of the transceiver can be configured for either low-IF or zero-IF applications and requires no external filters. The RF reference design incorporates power efficiency circuitry.
