Nissan Europe Reports September Sales

Nissan Europe reported total sales of 49,736 vehicles (1) in September 2004, a decrease of 12.6% over the same month last year.
In the nine month period from January to September 2004, Nissan Europe sold 411,509 units, 2.8% up from last year.
HIGHLIGHTS BY COUNTRY
- Nissan in France sold 4,150 units in September, registering a 15.6% increase compared to last year. In the nine month period from January to September 2004, Nissan sold 35,579 units in France, up by 8% compared to last year.
- In Germany, Nissan sold 4,468 units in September, representing a decrease of 31.3% compared to last year. In the nine month period from January to September 2004, Nissan sold 43,919 units in Germany, 12.2% down from last year.
- In Italy, Nissan sold 4,788 units in September, representing a decrease of 29.8% compared to last year. In the nine month period from January to September 2004, Nissan sales in Italy rose to 57,289 units, up by 4% compared to last year.
- Nissan in Spain sold 4,731 units in September, down by 0.7% compared to last year. In the nine month period from January to September 2004, Nissan sales in Spain rose to 49,098 units up by 12.8% compared to last year.
- In the UK, Nissan sold 16,200 units, a decrease of 22.8% compared to last year. In the nine month period from January to September 2004, Nissan's sales in the UK fell to 80,666 units, down 9.2% compared to last year.
- In Russia, Nissan sold 2,505 units, an increase of 184.3% compared to last year. In the nine month period from January to September 2004, Nissan's sales in Russia rose to 18,954 units, up 187.3% compared to last year
MODEL HIGHLIGHTS
- The Micra was Nissan's best-selling European model with a total of 16,182 unit sales in September representing a decrease of 24% against the same month last year. In the nine month period from January to September 2004, total Micra sales reached 129,478 units, up by 3% compared to last year.
- X-TRAIL sales increased by 11% in September against the same month last year to 6,147 units. In the nine month period from January to September 2004, total X-TRAIL sales reached 47,605 units, up by 27.8% compared to last year.
- Pickup sales increased by 9.2% in September against the same month last year to 4,621 units. In the nine month period from January to September 2004, total Pickup sales reached 32,717 units, up by 14% compared to last year

Last year, the company produced a total of 448,513 vehicles in its Spanish and British plants and sold 542,292 vehicles in Europe. Nissan Europe's Head Office is based in Trappes (Paris), France.
