Orion Diagnostica to Transfer Production From Oulunsalo to Turku
Espoo, Finland (ots/PRNewswire)
Negotiations have been completed with the personnel representatives in Orion Diagnostica Oy, a subsidiary of Orion Corporation, concerning operational rearrangements at Orion Diagnostica's sites in Finland. As a result of the negotiations, a decision has been made to transfer the production operations of the Oulunsalo plant to Turku. There are 30 employees at the Oulunsalo site. Additionally, operational improvements will be implemented at Orion Diagnostica's Espoo site where the impact is estimated to be about 16 working years.
The reason for the measures is overcapacity at the production plants in Turku and Oulunsalo as well as the decreased demand for certain older-generation products manufactured at the Espoo plant, which has led to permanently decreased workloads.
As announced by Orion's management when the negotiations were introduced, the company will try to avoid laying off staff by utilising relocation possibilities and by offering job opportunities also in Orion's other business divisions. All the persons whose tasks will end in Oulunsalo and Espoo will be offered an opportunity to be either relocated to the site of Orion Diagnostica in Turku or to be recruited into jobs vacant elsewhere in the Orion Group.
After the rearrangements, Orion Diagnostica will continue operations in Finland at its sites in Espoo, Turku and Oulu, where the product development unit in the Medipolis Research Center may also offer new job opportunities for some people.
