Gentex Shipping for New Land Rover Model
Zeeland, Michigan (ots/PRNewswire)
Gentex Corporation, the leading supplier of automatic-dimming rearview mirrors to the worldwide automotive industry, is shipping interior auto-dimming mirrors for Land Rover's newest entry into the global automotive market, an all-new premium luxury SUV known as the LR3 in North America, and as the Discovery throughout the rest of the world.
Gentex auto-dimming mirrors automatically darken to reduce glare from the headlamps of vehicles approaching from the rear. The brighter the glare, the darker the mirrors become, making nighttime driving safer.
In North America, the LR3's HSE trim level comes standard with an automatic-dimming mirror containing a fully integrated Johnson Controls' HomeLink(R) Wireless Control System. Three buttons on the face of the mirror can be programmed to operate garage doors, estate gates, home security systems and other radio-frequency controlled devices. The same mirror is also available on the SE trim level as part of a popular option package.
Vehicles sold outside of North America feature an auto-dimming interior mirror as standard equipment on the SE and HSE trim levels, and offer it as part of a "Bright Pack" option on the S trim level.
"For the LR3/Discovery, Gentex engineered one basic mirror design capable of housing multiple features in order to support the vehicle's global platform and market localization," said Gentex Executive Vice President Garth Deur. "Land Rover is another example of a vehicle manufacturer using our auto-dimming mirrors strategically to differentiate trim levels and introduce new technology into the vehicle."
