At its regular meeting today, Fraport AG´s supervisory board appointed a new executive board chairman (CEO) to succeed Dr. Wilhelm Bender, who having reached retirement age will leave the company effective August 31, 2009. Dr. Stefan Schulte, currently chief operating officer (COO) and executive board vice chairman will become Fraport´s new CEO effective September 1, 2009. Peter Schmitz, currently executive vice president for ground services, has been newly appointed to the executive board as a full member, effective September 1, 2009.
Dr. Wilhelm Bender has been executive board chairman of Fraport AG since 1993. His successor, Dr. Stefan Schulte, joined Fraport AG in 2003 as executive board member responsible for finance (CFO). In 2007 Schulte became vice chairman of the executive board and took over the position of COO, with operational responsibility for traffic and terminal management and Frankfurt Airport´s capacity expansion.
