ErSol Solar Energy AG enters into the field of thin-film module production - ErSol signs letter of intent (LOI) relating on production equipment for silicon thin-film modules with Swiss UNAXIS S.A. - Envisaged development of annual production capacities of 40 MWp by 2008 - Expansion of technological core competence to include silicon-saving thin-film technology Early this morning, the ErSol Group signed a LOI with the Swiss enterprise UNAXIS S.A. on production equipment for silicon thin-film modules. UNAXIS S.A. is a globally leading company in the area of thin-film and vacuum technology. In the period up to 2008, the ErSol Group is planning to develop - initially on a gradual basis subject to milestones - production capacities of 40 MWp per annum. To this end, more than 80 million euros will be invested in the thin-film module production plan to be erected in Thuringia and about 100 new permanent jobs will be created. The medium-term annual capacity target is 100 MWp. The production activities in the area of thin-film technology are envisaged to be conducted by an independent subsidiary and to contribute to the corporate result from the summer 2007 onwards. Going into thin-film technology opens up an additional growth option for the ErSol Group which is almost independent of the availability of silicon and also offers a significant cost-saving potential.
