ersol concludes biggest cell supply contract in company history with Solon
Early this morning, ersol Solar Energy AG (ersol) and Solon AG signed the hitherto largest cell supply contract since the founding of the Thuringia-based company. The contract is worth about EUR 1 billion. Monocrystalline silicon solar cells are to be supplied to Berlin module producer Solon over a period of 11 years starting in 2009. The agreement proposes that ersol receives down payments from Solon; these will later be offset against the purchase price to be paid by the module producer. For many years now, Solon has been one of ersol's key customers. In September 2005 and August 2006 the two solar companies already signed multi-year contracts for a total volume of about EUR 670 million. The conclusion of this latest contract saw ersol increase its order volume for solar cells to roughly EUR 2.8 billion.
