Company Information/Rosenbauer awarded as quality pioneer
Leonding (euro adhoc) - Within the fire industry, Rosenbauer is regarded as the
innovation and technology leader and during the introduction of management
systems was also one of Austria's pioneers. Work commenced on the creation of
quality management in line with ISO 9001 more than twenty years ago and
certification was first achieved in 1993. Since then, the management system has
been gradually expanded and subjected to sustained improvement with the result
that in the meantime it covers all relevant business processes.
Today, Rosenbauer possesses:
- Quality management pursuant to ISO 9001:2008
- Environmental management pursuant to ISO 14001:2004
- Work safety and health protection management pursuant to OHSAS 18001:2007
- Energy management pursuant to ISO 50001:2011
The management system is a firmly established element within Rosenbauer's
corporate policy and is based on its mission statement and strategy. It is
employed as a comprehensive information and control instrument and extends well
beyond issues of quality insurance in line with standards and the evidencing of
international standards in the areas of environmental protection and work
safety. It is for this achievement and over 20 years of successful ISO 9001
certification that Quality Austria has honored Rosenbauer.
Process optimization and continuous improvement
First and foremost, Rosenbauer's management system serves as a process
optimization instrument. Regular internal and external audits by Quality Austria
secure sustained improvements at every corporate level, as well as to the system
itself. Rosenbauer uses continuous improvement, which is secured as a basic
concept with the ISO system, as an independent process. Within this context,
quality management constitutes a central integration platform and according to
Wilhelm Pötscher, the Head of the Quality Assurance and Management System,
"Everyone produces quality." Therefore, CIP is appropriately securely anchored
within the Rosenbauer organization.
A lean system with clear key indicators
From the outset, Rosenbauer has relied upon a lean management system and has
made it accessible to the workforce via the company portal. All the regulations
and documents required for operational procedures are currently available online
and include relevant system documentation such as procedural instructions,
process descriptions, organizational diagrams, the various service and working
directives, safety regulations, organizational guidelines and company
agreements. Within the scope of the ISO system, internal answerability and
responsibilities have also been clearly defined, which in an increasingly
globalized company represents an important organizational criterion. In
addition, the system also allows the guidance of the group according to defined
key indicators. These include the determination of targets and ongoing checks as
to their achievement on every corporate level from product quality to energy
consumption.
Transparency for customers and stakeholders
The main focus of Rosenbauer's management system is on its European locations
and it is guided from the group's headquarters in Leonding. This ensures that
the same procedures and processes are employed in all vehicle plants and the
attainment of the required quality. As a result of the use of the management
system in conformity with standards and thus adherence to international norms,
Rosenbauer also achieves a high degree of legal security in global competition.
Furthermore, customers and stakeholders receive information as to which process,
under what working and environmental conditions, and with which energy use
Rosenbauer products are manufactured.
The technological leadership of the company has one again been evidenced by its
energy management system, which was awarded ISO 50001:2011 certification during
this spring, making Rosenbauer one of the first companies in Austria to have
received this accreditation.
