Christ Water Technology is expanding its Pharma and Life Science segment and acquiring a controlling interest of 76% in the zeta Group, which is based in Tobelbad, near Graz, Austria. As agreed today, zeta will be integrated into the CHRIST Group with immediate effect. The signing of the deal is expected until the end of September.
zeta is a leading supplier of process systems for the biotech and pharmaceutical industry: it has three business units, Bio and Process Technology, Sterile Plant Construction, and Automation, 240 highly qualified employees and annual sales of around EUR 40 million.
"With zeta, CHRIST will become a genuine turnkey supplier and can now supply the entire process chain for the biopharmaceutical industry. The engineering expertise, the product competence and the excellent reputation of zeta in combination with the water technology expertise and global production and sales network of CHRIST open up extensive synergies and new growth opportunities", according to CHRIST CEO, Dr. Karl Michael Millauer.
Founded in 1987, zeta is today a supplier for process technology primarily established in Central Europe, with branches and subsidiaries in Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France and the Czech Republic. The particular strengths of the group are its high level of technical competency and wide product range in the fields of application systems, bioreactors, stirring and mixing technology, filtration, refrigeration and defrosting systems and biopharmaceutical plant construction with corresponding automation solutions.
Managing directors of zeta, Hermann Grundnig und Gerhard Zehetner, comment on this as follows: "CHRIST will confer on zeta exciting opportunities for development and represents a successful and stable future for our employees, partners and customers." The defining feature of 2007 so far has been restructuring and zeta is expected to provide a positive contribution to CHRIST´s earnings as early as 2008. The initial consolidation is expected to take place in September 2007.
