Host Broadcast operations of UEFA EURO 2008 kicked-off with the host broadcasting of the UEFA EURO 2008 Final Draw that took place on 2nd December in Lucerne, Switzerland. It was followed by the second UEFA EURO 2008 Broadcast Partner Workshop in Zurich, Switzerland.
The UEFA EURO 2008 Final Draw was produced in High Definition and delivered to the 57 UEFA EURO 2008 Broadcast Partners in HD and SD 16:9 aspect ratio broadcast. Over 50 broadcasting partners aired the draw from KKL in Lucerne.
Directly after the Final Draw, the broadcast partners travelled from Lucerne to Zurich for the second UEFA EURO 2008 Broadcast Partner Workshop, organised by UEFA Media Technologies SA. The workshop provided the rights-holding broadcasters with detailed information on the services planned for next summer's tournament.
In total, 50 broadcast partners from 37 countries - representing the majority of European territories and the most important networks outside of Europe attended the two-day workshop in Zurich. They were welcomed by UEFA Marketing Director Philippe Le Floc'h and UEFA Media Technologies SA CEO Alexandre Fourtoy.
The UEFA Media Technologies chief executive led proceedings and around 200 attendants heard presentations about all relevant broadcast topics during the course of the workshop.
"The first workshop marked the start of the partnership approach adopted by UEFA. The second workshop has provided the opportunity to intensify our fruitful relationship," said Fourtoy. "Furthermore, it gives UEFA the chance to present more detailed reports on the status of the organisation of the tournament and the Host Broadcast operations project as well as on UEFA's approach in terms of television and media worldwide."
Details of Host Broadcast operations were discussed in workshops, and unilateral meetings, where valuable feedback and first impressions of UEFA Host Broadcast operations were given.
"The spirit of cooperation and partnership at the Final Draw in Lucerne was very good. All the services ran smoothly and were delivered successfully. SRG was happy to be part of multilateral feed delivery. At the workshop we were pleased to see UEFA making the partnership concept a reality. We are pleased that our voice is heard and look forward to the future with confidence," said Roland Mägerle, Head of Major Events, Business Unit Sport SRG SSR idée Suisse.
