Cuxhaven/Chicago, January 13, 2009 - Kelly Lloyd, an experienced manager in the development of projects in the renewable energies sector, will become the General Manager of Plambeck New Energy USA, Inc. effective as of January 15, 2009.
"With Kelly Lloyd we have found a very experienced manager in the US wind power market", says Martin Billhardt, the Chairman of the Management Board of Plambeck Neue Energien AG, with regard to this personnel decision. Based on his extensive experience Kelly Lloyd will develop, position and manage the US business of Plambeck Neue Energien AG from its headquarters in Chicago. "We are very glad to have an expert of his calibre on board", Martin Billhardt continues.
Prior to his employment at Plambeck Neue Energien AG, Kelly Lloyd worked with the project developer enXco Inc., a US subsidiary of EDF Energies Nouvelles S.A., for more than ten years in various positions. Most recently he acted as Chief Financial Officer, where he assured financing in excess of $ 500 million for the development and construction of projects. Within the context of the purchase of companies, he was furthermore responsible for the acquisition of wind power projects with a total capacity of 200 MW.
Already back in October 2008, Plambeck Neue Energien AG had established its fully-owned subsidiary Plambeck New Energy USA, Inc. for the development of wind power projects in the US, one of the most attractive future wind power markets. The company sees significant opportunities for growth in the American wind energy market both in the medium and long-term, as the development and construction of wind farms is being supported more and more by the USA. The Chairman of the Management Board, Martin Billhardt explains that "it is our objective to take under contract and to develop together with joint venture partners wind farm projects with a nominal output of up to 2,500 MW in the US within the next three years."
In total, industry experts anticipate a definite double-digit growth rate in the American market until the year 2012, so that the installed output will triple to more than 57,000 MW. According to this estimate, the USA will develop into the largest market for wind energy worldwide in the future. Especially states like Florida, Texas and California are expected to become pioneers in this field.
With the market entry into the USA, Plambeck Neue Energien AG continues to pursue its strategy of international expansion. The company is already represented in a number of further growth markets via joint ventures in Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey, Great Britain and Ireland as well as a participation in the development of a French wind farm. Currently Plambeck Neue Energien AG works on wind farm projects with a capacity of up to 1,430 MW in these countries, which should be realised in the medium term.
Corporate profile:
Plambeck Neue Energien AG with its headquarters in Cuxhaven plans and implements wind-farm projects on land (onshore) and at sea (offshore). The key competence of the company is the development, projecting, implementation and financing of wind-farms and their operation and sale with subsequent service. Up to now, the enterprise has set up 84 wind-farms with 479 wind-energy systems and a total nominal output of 651 MW.
In Germany (onshore) wind-farm projects with a nominal output of more than 400 MW are being processed, of which 120 MW are already under construction.
Over and above this, Plambeck Neue Energien AG develops offshore wind-farm projects, of which two major projects in German waters have already been approved. Entry to promising foreign markets is also being examined for the offshore area.
