Cuxhaven, February 24, 2009 - Plambeck Neue Energien AG has now completed and put a wind-farm of particularly high performance with a nominal output of 20 MW and a hub height of 125 metres into operation in Langwedel (Lower Saxony). In total ten wind-energy systems of the Vestas V90 type were set up. The finished wind-farm is being handed over to Babcock & Brown Wind Partners.
With its hub height of 125 metres and a total height of 170 metres, the wind-energy systems have the best possible prerequisites in order to make the most efficient use possible of the wind at the location. The height of the tower and the forces which occur as a result demand foundations with a very complicated construction and, with around 620 cubic metres of quality reinforced concrete and about 65 tons of reinforcement steel per foundation, an extraordinary volume.
The crane technique used, explained project manager Jens Peters, also had to overcome special challenges with the great height of the tower and the system. A pleasing thing was that some of the orders for the wind-farm infrastructure were awarded to locally based companies.
"Langwedel is the third wind-farm which we have completely set up and put into operation this year. Further projects will be following and handed over to various buyers in the coming weeks," says Martin Billhardt, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Plambeck, who is pleased about the current development of the wind-farm developer. Currently further wind-farms with a nominal output of 82 MW are in the construction phase.
The wind-energy systems in Langwedel can cover the annual electricity requirements of more than 13,000 private households and make a significant contribution to environmental protection, as environmentally friendly current generation from wind avoids around 30,000 tons of carbon dioxide and other pollutants per year.
